I finally got the chance to try my hand at this craft at Studio Perak in Ubud! It was really great fun and despite being far from perfect, I definitely learnt something new today... And I loved the experience!

24th Feb 2014 - the anticipation of travel
I feel this anticipation most when I am in the airport transit area roaming around while waiting for my flight... People watching the travelers at pass in and out of view, where are they heading to? Are they going home or exploring somewhere exotic? Are they business travelers? Creating these little personal stories in my head as I watch the planes land and take off. Is that the plane that would take me to another foreign land?

23rd Feb 2014 - Awesome Bus-drivers
It is difficult to find such bus-drivers on the Singapore roads nowadays as they get caught up with trying to meet bus schedules. This one however bothered to slow down at every bus-stop, only moves off when he is sure the old man has got to his seat safely and happily helps the wheel-chaired lady up and down the bus.

22nd Feb 2014 - Letterpress
I visited the Made In Singapore market today with Faizah and managed to catch the letterpress demo. It is amazing that this is a mid 15th century invention with all it complex nuances! a tweak here, a touch there, it takes lots of trial and error to get perfect pressure and eventually print. But I do enjoy the accidental pieces created before getting the perfect print, it is the mistakes and process that matters.

Woke up today to see my face and whole life story in the newspapers. It is unnerving and I feel vulnerable. Throughout the day though, I received kind comments and well wishes from close friends and friends who I haven't heard from in a long time. I like that. I like reconnecting with these people and it makes me grateful for their support.

15th Feb 2014 - teaching Knitting
It is always fun teaching knitting. Claire came over today and we came up with an analogy together... Knitting is like Baking while Sewing is like Cooking. That would explain why it is easier teaching knitting because it is more structured, you are teaching a fixed technique as compared to sewing where it is more improvisational.

For the first time today, these 3 lovelies came out to greet me when I entered Dulcetfig to stock. They came to sit on the counter as if to say 'hey, we are the bosses here, so what have you brought to stock today?' They allowed me to stroke them gently and Jack even sent me to the door when I was leaving!

Who knew the art of bird watching is so complex? It was an eye-opening session at today's session where we learnt about waders or shore birds. The long road trip to Sungei Buloh was also refreshing as we drove past unbuilt up open lands, farms, a truly uncommon sight in land-scarce Singapore.

During lunch at the hawker centre, we heard an low bellow... The instrument is a Shofar, made of horn and hollowed out so it can be blown for the intention of healing. I realize you can learn about different religions in the most unexpected of places!

On a bus ride home from a meeting about sponsorship, budget and yarns for a project, a lady on the bus suddenly smiled at us. She had seen the knitting sample poking out from our bag and her words took me by surprise, "hello, did you make that? I have a lot (of yarn and materials) at home, can I give you?" I see many of my "likes" turning out to be of the small ordinary everyday things and I didn't want to repeat but this incident really surprised me in a unexpected, happy way!

There are days that I just want to curl up in a couch and just read. Today was one of those days after a tiring interview and photo-shoot with the newspapers. Just shows how much I am not a media person eh? Haha! Lucky for me, I am enjoying A Tale For The Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. The title itself already makes it the perfect 'sit back and relax after a long day book'!
