When visiting the studio today to place my monk doll there, I spotted Nia' completed monkey god, Sun Wu Kong, doll which left me impressed. Now I really can't wait to see the final window display!

28th Apr 2014 - learning new knits
It has been a long time since I tried something new in Knitting and this was so addictive. I tried laces; putting holes in your knitted garments and slip-stitch colour knitting. Now I can do colour knitting, something to be proud of. Since the knitting parties, I have been asked questions which I had no clue about, it forces me to read up more, learn new techniques which I am glad to finally get the motivation to do.

"It's Time to meet the Muppets", I fell in love with this show once again because it is so light-hearted, catchy tunes and that self-referential humour!

365 "Likes" Project - 26th Apr 2014
It was a madly crowded session at the knitting party today and I felt so watched and scruntinised! Thankfully these 3 friends strolled in late into the session, it feels so good to be in the company of familiar faces!

This Indie bookshop is one that has became a mascot of such for independent local businesses. Now into its 9th year, it is looking for a permanent home and seeking for help to raise the money, I love that despite it being a weekday afternoon, the store felt crowded. I wish it all the best!

The best thing about light drizzles is the fact I can still have my windows slightly ajar to enjoy the breeze without getting wet! just like a cat hiding under a bench.

As members of Popin, we have most fun when we are in the company of the whole gang! We spent today prepping for the upcoming event and with light conversations, freshly-baked chocolate chiffon cake (courtesy of Cindy) and busy crafting hands, we all had a relaxing good time!

A home-cooked meal in some time, this time at a friend's home. The surprise invite, a warm dinner of vegetarian fare and in the company of friends, makes for a lovely way to end a long day.

(ok, so i cheated since this is a photo) The wildflowers of Singapore have been gathering attentions of the locals. we may not have the cherry blossoms of Japan but these are just as eye-catching.

14th Apr 2014 - architecture around Singapore
Malabar Mosque which I always pass on the way back from Haji Lane never fails to capture my attention with its blue walls and geometric patterns. Singapore really does have beautiful cultural architecture if you bother to stop and admire.

13th Apr 2014 - The Grand Budapest Hotel
I had wanted to watch this for some time now due to the good reviews but I didn't expect to until this impromptu invite and decision after our popin meeting. And with a gushing Betty (I never quite seen her like this...), we did. And boy am I glad I caught it! The production set is so amazing it made me wish for a moment I could become a set designer. And this is one film that really got me traveling in my mind to Europe again.... With the funicular rides in Switzerland and the old grand hotel lifts that reminded me of Paris.

12th Apr 2014 - Studio Ghibli OST by Joe Hisaishi
This CD is one of my favorites to listen to when I am alone crafting, it is my comfort music. the composer is a magician at transporting listeners to fairways fantasy lands. (The illustration is based on another artwork I chanced upon recently by Jason K who did an amazing job simplifying each animation to its elements!)

11th Apr 2014 - Vanishing Trades
One of the things that fascinates me is the little slices of life in Singapore of the vanishing trades. Every time I pass the block of flats to HDB Hub, I find a old clobber at the HDB void deck ready to mend your shoes.

10th Apr 2014 - re-reading old beloved books
When doing up samples for a book-themed workshop, I began looking through books of the past that has inspired me... There are only those few books that I bothered to keep from my childhood and school days. One of which is 'the alchemist', a book I studied in Literature class. I have almost forgotten the story now and when someone asked me what it was about the other day, I could only say, it is about a journey. I found myself reading it again tonight and I was inspired once again...full of notes and tabs from my past, A paper-cut leaf fell out from the pages and spelling mistakes from the scribbles of my youth.

8th Apr 2014 - If There're Seasons...
Ahhh... This show was even better the second time around! Ok, there were a few actors who I was missing from the last time I watched it but the two leads, Joanna Dong and George Chan were superb as before! I found my feet tapping unconsciously to the songs, just short of singing along!

4th Apr 2014 - The Secret Life of Arrietty
I finally got to watch this animation since I had wished to when we visited the exhibition in Tokyo in 2010! And it was lovely, mostly because I always enjoyed Studio Ghibli shows and of course I love miniature, it is nice to see how they imagined the set with all these ordinary objects taking on new life as huge items!

3rd Apr 2014 - HDB blocks
In brain-storming about a new art work, I recall the HDB I pass by all the time in Toa Payoh. With the corridor facing the main road, you can see little glimpse of each household's life in their HDB flats.

1st Apr 2014 - MT Tape
collecting MT washi tapes is quite an addiction which i indulge in once in a while... but i make it a point to make use of them just to justify the purchase! i love patterns so it is no surprise why these are so attractive to me. how would it be like to design patterns made for MT tape? i think watercolours is the perfect medium to design such patterns.
