the symbolic colours and shapes in moods.
a Restart.
(i think i will never have the time to properly scan my tokyo journal...)
because school has been so busy (it is only week 3!!) in the meantime, i am slowing building up my portfolio with these assignments to follow:

these were my responses to the word "Restart" in the first image, it is the burning of the paper to ashes and from it a tree (the start/origin of paper) grows... also the idea of 'rebirth' with references to the phoenix rising from its ashes.
The second is a more bleak portrayal of the 're-starting' of an assignment when all your old ideas are thrown out of the window (or in this case, into the wastepaper basket). notice the forming of the backward arrows (rewind symbol) in the negative spaces of the trash bin.

i did this in about 30 mins at our last fdn drawing class today. i ran out of peach coloured pastel so i decided the model's skin shall be red! hahahaha!

we sing, we dance, we live in air-borne houses
our homework brief: "Images of the future"
this is the scenario when we have run out of land and no amount of reclamation work would provide enough living space. i don't think it is scientifically possible to suspend land... so unless some mad scientist can recreate how meteoroids/stars stay suspended in mid-air, this image of the future isn't actually possible.
still, it is a happy, fantastical picture.

the anonymous passer-by
(i started on this 2 weeks back but only completed it with the watercolour sky yesterday night.)
Quidam (pronounced /kiːˈdɑːm/ key-DAHM) means (sg.) "a certain", (pl.) "some", or "anonymous passerby" in Latin.
This was a show by Cirque du Soleil which i thought looked interesting due to the theme and how the title character looked like a surrealistic figure from a Rene Magritte painting! It talks of a solitary figure lingering on a street corner, a person rushing past (reminds me of some calefare! Lol.), one who cries out, sings and dreams within us all.
